  • PNG's Unique Coffees

Papua New Guinea is known as one of the most remote island nations in all of the world. Although English is the official language, PNG is known to possess 800 tribal dialects across the nation, encompassing roughly 600 different tribal groups. Coffee is their main cash-crop though, so it is through coffee many tribes can find a common ground.

The island is composed entirely of volcanic soil, possesses high altitudes in their coffee growing regions, along with ample rainfall. It is this pairing of soil, altitude, and climate that creates some of the most exotic and delicious coffees on planet Earth.

Specialty PNG coffee is well-balanced with mellow flavors, moderate acidity, and a full-bodied, buttery quality. The Eastern Highlands is fertile with loamy volcanic soil, and the coffee that comes through the Lahamenegu wet mill is grown at 1550 masl spread across approximately 600 hectares of land.

This peaberry coffee is pleasantly round and creamy, full of dark chocolate and brown sugar notes with hints of blackberry and dried plum and medium acidity.

If you have never had the pleasure of tasting a coffee from Papua New Guinea now would be a good time.
